Do you offer therapy online or over the phone?

Yes— I am providing telehealth (video and phone) sessions to protect the health and safety of all of the clients I serve and the community at large as we navigate the pandemic. Video sessions are confidential and secure and will be accessed through my easy-to-use, HIPAA compliant platform, SimplePractice. You will receive detailed instructions for how to access the video portal. Here are a few tips for making the most out of your online therapy session.

What are your rates for therapy? Do you offer a sliding-scale?

My rate for a 50 minute session is $225. While I do not offer sliding-scale or reduced fees at this time, please do not be deterred from contacting me if you would like help finding a therapist who fits your budget.

I list my fee on my website to be as transparent as possible, which is something you can expect in our work together. Your care is important to me, and if my rate is not within your budget, I will make every effort to help you find services that meet your needs. This list of low to no cost and sliding-scale therapy services is a good place to start.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance at this time. I collect payment at the time I provide services, but I can provide a receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance provider to learn about your out-of-network mental health coverage prior to beginning treatment with me.

I’m interested in working with you. Do you offer an initial phone consultation? How can I schedule a time to talk?

TL;DR: Yes, Online/email

I believe that the relationship that is formed between the client and therapist is a central part of why therapy works. It’s important that you have a sense of comfortability with your therapist in order to create a space for you to bravely explore various parts of yourself and experiment with new ways of relating. So I offer a free, 20 minute phone consultation to help you access that sense. Some clients have said they feel certain they want to work with me based on the content of my website or social media platforms, or they are simply eager to begin. I so appreciate all of that! However, let’s develop this relationship consciously and mindfully— your nervous system will thank you for it.

To schedule your initial consultation, message me through my contact page or send me an email so we can coordinate a time to set up a phone call. Please note that confidential information should not be sent through my online form or email. I will respond to inquiries usually within 48 business hours (unless I am out of the office).

What happens during the initial consultation?

The initial consultation is an opportunity for you to tell me a bit about what is bringing you into therapy at this time and for me to answer any questions that you might have. Additionally, I will tell you about my approach and how I can help. All the while we are both assessing if we are a good fit to work together. I often say that fit, fee, and scheduling are important components when making a decision about your therapist. So, we will discuss if my fee and our schedules align as well.

What happens if we have a consultation and determine that we are not a good fit to work together?

This happens from time to time. You may decide that my *location, fee, or my approach are not what you are looking for. Or based on our conversation, I may determine that another therapist may be a better fit— usually because your presenting concerns are outside of my area of specialization or I believe another therapist’s training would be better suited for you. If you or myself determine that working with another therapist will be best, I will provide referrals if you’d like.

*All sessions will now be provided online via televideo for your convenience.

If we agree to work together, do I have to receive EMDR therapy?

No— you have the right to decline any treatment modality or intervention that I suggest in our work together. While EMDR is an evidence-based therapy and a widely used treatment method for a number of concerns, it may not be best for your particular presenting problem. Additionally, I may not be the most appropriate therapist to treat your concern with EMDR. If this is the case, I may propose another approach or I can make referrals to other EMDR therapists who may be able to help.

If you are interested in EMDR therapy, let’s take some time to discuss this. If I believe that EMDR would be an effective form of treatment for your presenting concern, we will explore the process and possible risks and benefits before incorporating it into our work together.

EMDR is just one form of trauma therapy. I am trained in various modalities (Somatic Experiencing, NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM)) that are highly effective for all kinds of trauma and the resulting physiological impacts and identity distortions it creates. I’m happy to discuss my training at any point during our work together.

What is your appointment cancellation policy?

To cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide a 24 hour notice via phone call or email. Otherwise, I do charge the full session fee. I do not accept text messages as a method of communication, including informing me of a cancellation or reschedule.

Where are you located and what are your hours of operation?

While all appointments are only offered via telehealth, my mailing address is located at 3800 North Lamar Blvd., Suite 200, Austin, TX 78756.

My business hours are as follows:

Monday - Thursday: 9am - 5pm
Friday - Sunday: Closed

Do you provide therapy to individuals under the age of 18?

No, I only work with adults 18 years of age and up. I have a wonderful network of colleagues who provide therapy to minors (including EMDR therapy for minors)— I’d be happy to pass along some names if you’d like.
